Youth First-Aid Providers Course Opens at the "Amit Center", named after Amit Man z"l

07.11.2024 12:18

60 9th grade students from the Netivot area joined a first-aid providers' course and started their way in MDA. The course is taking place for the first time at the "Amit Center" at the Darka School in Netivot

It is named after Amit Man, MDA Paramedic and paramedic instructor in the Negev Region who was murdered on October 7, 2023 while treating casualties in the Kibbutz Clinic in Be'eri. The new students met Rachel Man, Amit's mother. She told them about Amit's time as a student at the school where they are taking the course, about her time as an MDA youth volunteer at the MDA Station in Netivot, the paramedic course she undertook, and about Amit's actions and bravery on that dark day of 7 October 2023.

At the conclusion of the course, the volunteers will join ambulances as first aid providers and will help save lives in Netivot and the local region.

Rachel Man, Amit's z"l mother: "I'm excited and proud to visit the school where Amit studied, in order to talk to the youth about her journey in MDA that started right here, and about her heroism from that Saturday, October 7 2023. I wish them luck, and that they should be successful in their new journey to save lives."

MDA Netivot Station Manager, Meir Elmaliah: "I met Amit when she was 14, and a youth volunteer at the station. On October 7th, Amit displayed a sense of calm when she treated casualties during the height of the terror, before being murdered by evil. She was a role model to us all at the station, as a paramedic and an instructor, in her pride in the organization, and the person that she was. I hope that the youth who are taking this course in the building named in her honor, will learn from her good qualities.
