MDA teams obtained 600K test samples so far
Last week MDA teams have obtained 74,919 test samples * since the beginning of the Coronavirus outbreak, MDA teams have obtained 600,000 test samples.
Magen David Adom announced today (Thursday), that since the beginning of the Coronavirus outbreak, MDA teams have obtained 599,860 test samples. MDA staff have obtained samples in homes, clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, educational institutions, and in Drive and Test complexes.
Last week (July 9-15) MDA EMTs and paramedics have obtained 74,919 test samples. 15,713 samples were obtained in people’s homes and in the schools, 35,541 from residents and staff members at nursing homes and 23,665 at MDA's Drive and Test facilities.
According to MDA data, 170,517 samples were obtained in peoples homes and in the schools and 240,517 samples were obtained from residents and staff members at long term care facilities and nursing homes.
188,826 samples were obtained at MDA's Drive and Test facilities. At the permanent facilities in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem and Beer Sheva 101,550 people were sampled. Of those sampled, 41,137 were in Tel Aviv, 38,591 in Jerusalem, 12,936 in Haifa and 8,886 in Beer Sheva. In addition as needed, Magen David Adom operates additional Drive and Test complexes throughout the country. Testing at the mentioned facilities requires a referral from the patient's primary care physician.
MDA is continuing to operate the Drive and Test facilities, while also carrying out testing in nursing homes and long term care facilities throughout the country. In addition, as needed, MDA teams will obtain samples from those who are home-bound and have obtained a referral for the test.
In addition, MDA Paramedics have obtained 2,520 serological tests. And evacuation of thousands of verified patients from their home for hospitalization
MDA's 101 Emergency Call Centers also show a significant increase in citizen inquiries, which reached 22,353 calls a day this week, an increase of about 370% compared to a routine day
Along with obtaining hundreds of thousands of samples for Corona, MDA blood services continue to collect plasma from Corona’s recoveries for the treatment of severely ill patients and the production of a passive vaccine. To date, approximately 4,450 plasma doses have been donated from Corona’s recoveries. 464 doses have been given to 232 corona patients in moderate and severe condition.
