Mifal HaPais will activate a national project

18.11.2019 14:03

Mifal HaPais will activate a national project, through MDA, for the placement of defibrillators in public spaces

600 defibrillators that wirelessly connect to MDA’s 101 Emergency Dispatch Center will be installed in the stands of Mifal HaPais throughout the country// there are many similar initiatives that exist in countries throughout the world such as: The USA, Austria, France, and more, and they rely on the studies that proved that CPR operations that include administering electric shock significantly raise the chances of the patient to return consciousness// the devices will be positioned outside of Mifal HaPais’s stands so that they can be available to the public even when the stand is closed // the maintenance, operation, and management of the devices will solely be MDA’s responsibility

These days, Mifal HaPais, by means of MDA, is leading a national initiative within its framework. Defibrillators will be deployed in Mifal HaPais’s stands through the country, with the goal of allowing quick medical attention that could shorten the amount of time until one receives an electric shock in the event of heart failure in a public area, and therefore save the lives of many.

Within the framework of the project, Mifal HaPais will purchase approximately 600 CPR devices (defibrillators), that wirelessly connect to MDA’s 101 Emergency Dispatch Center, investing approximately 5 million NIS. The defibrillators will be placed outside the stands of Mifal HaPais throughout the country.

How will the process work?

• A citizen recognizes an event of heart failure in a public area

• They call MDA’s 101 Emergency Dispatch Center and receive strict instruction:

• They are to identify the defibrillator closest to their location, stationed outside of Mifal HaPais’s stand, and they are to evaluate the situation and operate.

• They continue with combined guidance- audial instruction from the defibrillator itself combined with additional instruction from professionals at MDA’s Emergency Dispatch Center, administer electric shock to the patient and wait until the arrival of the medical teams to the scene.

Chairman of Mifal HaPais, accountant Avigdor Itzhaky: “The goal of this initiative is to save lives. The deployment of defibrillators in the stands of Mifal HaPais throughly the country could allow, in certain situations, immediate primary treatment in a public space and possibly in certain situations even save the lives of the sick from the most common cause of death in the country and around the world- heart failure. Mifal HaPais understood the importance of this project, donated itself to it, and invested in it many resources. Mifal HaPais invests itself in Israel’s society and there is no bigger goal for the sake of society than saving lives. I bless the directorate of Mifal HaPais that understood the importance of the project, gave us permission, and donated immediately to the mission.”

MDA Director General, Eli Bin: “The collaboration with Mifal HaPais by means of deployment of defibrilators in its stands is an example of a creative cooperation for the sake of saving lives. The subject of discussion is undoubtedly an important step that will clearly save lives and will increase the chance of survival for those who are stricken with heart failure, near those same devices, and may even allow them to come out of it without irreversible brain damage. I thank Chairman of Mifal HaPais, Accountant Avigdor Itzhaky, for stationing himself on the front line, alongside MDA, in concern for the well-being of the public.”

The initiative will be accompanied by a collaborative public campaign with Mifal HaPais and MDA whose goal is to raise public awareness on the subject. The campaign is expected to rise in juxtaposition with the deployment of the defibrillators in their stands in a number of months.
