second MADAthon
The second MADAthon has just concluded, and the winning teams have been announced. Competitors took part in a 26-hour lifesaving technological marathon, requiring both tenacity and an elevated level of medical and technological expertise. It proved the no challenge is too great when there are lives to be saved, not even extreme fatigue!
Our teams developed assorted products while being mentored by MDA paramedics and executives, IDF medical technology officers and faculty members from the Afeka of College of Engineering in Tel Aviv. Some of the projects focused on shortening response times and improving patient care in a single patient scenario. Others focused on better managing mass casualty incidents.
The first-place winners were a team from the MDA Yarkon region that developed a monitoring system for vital signs integrated with artificial intelligence and focused on helping MDA personnel in the field make better decisions while treating patients. This is a major technological and medical breakthrough, and we congratulate the team members: Nitzan Golovinsky, Shay Raanan, Danial Shilo, Dror Shmulevich, Avi Apelbaoum, Shaked Arazi, Eli Hirshberg and Itamar Rubenshteyn.
Bank Hapoalim provided generous financial prizes which that be used to further develop the winning projects and integrate them in the future at MDA.
