On National Defibrillator Day: Public Defibrillators Save Two Lives in Cardiac Emergencies

24.02.2025 10:43

Today (Monday, February 24) marks National Defibrillator Day, highlighting the critical importance of public access defibrillators and their registration in Magen David Adom's (MDA) national database

Two successful emergency interventions today demonstrated the life-saving impact of this initiative.

In Rishon LeZion, a security guard responded to a 70-year-old man in cardiac arrest during evening activities. Following MDA's 101 emergency dispatch guidance, the guard utilized an on-site defibrillator, successfully restoring the patient's cardiac rhythm.

Earlier today in northern Israel, a 65-year-old woman collapsed while shopping. MDA's dispatch center identified a nearby registered defibrillator through their control system. Under professional guidance, bystanders administered four electrical shocks, successfully reviving the patient.

These incidents underscore the vital importance of accessible defibrillators in public spaces and their registration in MDA's national database. MDA urges organizations, institutions, and businesses to install and register defibrillators, enabling immediate emergency response when needed. The organization's dispatch center maintains readiness to guide civilians in locating and operating nearby defibrillators during emergencies.
