Moriah's Serious Accident - and the Medic who Saved her Life
About three weeks ago (10.8), a serious car accident interrupted the serenity of the desert on Road 90. The vehicle in which Moriah (20) from Eilat was in, overturned and an MDA ambulance was called to the scene. First to arrive was MDA medic Omri Abu Jama and provided initial treatment to the injured at the scene who were evacuated by MDA helicopter to the hospital.
About the moments after the accident, EMT Omri said: "We received a call about a serious accident, I arrived to the scene first. I immediately saw Moriah and after initial tests her condition was defined as moderate-serious. We rescued her with special equipment to protect her spine and neck. We provided her with primary medical care in the field whilst reporting her condition to the Magen David Adom call center and launched the MDA helicopter so that he could quickly refer her for further treatment at the hospital. "
At the hospital, the doctors diagnosed that Moriah had a fracture in her spine and now she is recovering and continuing with the treatments. Despite being in recovery and after a severe trauma - Moriah called Omri, thanked him excitedly for his actions and invited him, after she was released to her home, to an honorary meal and so it happened last Friday (21.8) MDA EMT Omri Abu Jaba arrived at Moriah's parents' house in Dimona and met her and her family as she stood on her feet.
Of the moments of anxiety, recovery and gratitude, Moriah excitedly recounted: "After an hour of driving, suddenly everything turned upside down like in a movie. Since then I do not so much remember what happened. It is a great miracle that I am here. I broke some vertebrae and a lot of pain, but thank G-D that Omri rescued me. He gave me medical treatment and monitored me until I was evacuated by MDA helicopter to the hospital. He continued to take an interest in my condition and sent me best wishes for recovery even after the rescue. Omri is an example of humanity and love. He continues to take care of me, ask how I am and cares, he is a special person to whom all the thanks go. Who knows how the story would have ended if he had not arrived at the scene on time. "
"I was very excited to meet Moriah, to see her standing on her feet in the arms of her family after the serious injury she went through is not obvious. I learned a lot from her about how to be strong and I am happy to see her recover." Omri concluded the exciting meeting at Moriah's parents' home in Dimona.
