From Holocaust to Revival
Ms. de Jonge, a resident of the Netherlands, chose to commemorate the memory of her late husband by donating an ambulance to the MDA station in the city of Modi'in - Maccabim-Reut.
The inauguration ceremony of the new ambulance was held on Tuesday last week – 6th of Hanukkah candle, in City Hall Square with the participation of Mr. Haim Bibas Mayor and Chairman of the Gederation of Local Authorities in Israel, representatives of the municipal administration, Efi Bar - Director of the MDA Ayalon region and Eli Jaffe, MDA Deputy Director General- Community.
The mayor thanked Ms. de Jonge for her important donation and noted the centrality and importance of MDA activities in general and in dealing with the Corona pandemic.
Efi Bar recounted the special, miraculous story of the de Jonge family who survived the Holocaust, they not only survived but supported and created toys and support for the children of the Jewish community who hid from the Nazis. They overcame the difficulties, set up a thriving enterprise and the community-public activity of the late Mr. Joachim Max de Jonge in the Jewish community in the Netherlands, and thanked the MDA Friends Society in the Netherlands for their contribution the new MDA station in the city.
The new ambulance is in service at the MDA station in Modi'in-Maccabim-Reut.
