About the Project

KNOWEMS website

KnowEMS bridges in the capacity of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to – Share – Learn – Grow. The lack of a network that allows EMS operations managers, to share and discuss issues of interest internally, and interact with Civil Protection and public safety stakeholders to increase the effectiveness and interoperability of Civil Protection actors. With EMS and CP actors from 6 countries, led by JUH DE, MDA IL, DSU RO, INEM PT, SAMUR-PC ES, SFMC FR and SAMU 94 FR this is a project thought about by end users to meet their needs, and the runs by the practitioners themselves. The objectives of KnowEMS are:

  1. Create a strong network of EMS operations managers, with strong involvement of CP and public safety actors.

  2. Organize sires of monthly virtual meetings to discuss issues of interest (lessons observed from operations, trainings, simulations, challenges and dilemmas, preparedness activities etc.). The issues discussed will be compiled, validated by the partners and published.

  3. Facilitate the participation of EMS experts in meetings, simulations and conferences, to bring the voice of EMS actors to the attention of CP and public safety actors and listen to their views, in order to bring EMS closer to crisis management actors.

  4. Share the knowledge accumulated in KnowEMS through the Knowledge Network of EUCPM, and other fora, to allow growing of the sector by effective exchange. EMS are highly fragmented (between hospital based, public services (municipal / regional / national), fire services based, outsourced), and play a double role as part of the medical community and at the same time public safety / civil protection organizations.

Magen David Adom is the Technical Coordinator in KnowEMS project, and leads the network management and meetings Work Package in charge of the conduction of 24 online webinars during the project lifetime.
